AREA PROGRESS COUNCIL to host 34th Annual Economic Outlook Breakfast

 

            The Area Progress Council will host the 34th Annual Economic Outlook Breakfast Tuesday, November 21 from 7 AM to 9 AM at the Manor House in Mason, Ohio. Reservations are required.

 

            The speakers Jason Phipps, Johnna Reeder and Jill Wilson will address current and future trends related to health care, finance and regional development.  The panel will be moderated by Commission David Young.

  Jason Phipps is a Senior Vice President, Manager Trust and Investment Services for Peoples Bank.  He is a member of the Leadership Team in Southwest Ohio, Serves as a Market Team Leader, Leads the Trust and Investment Division in Southwest Ohio and is responsible for the Brokerage business at Peoples Bank.  Jason was ranked 13th on Bank Investment Consultants Top 25 Program Managers List in 2017.  Prior to joining Peoples Bank, Jason was a member of the Executive Team of National Bank and Trust, where he was responsible for the Wealth Management Division.

            He has over 17 years of experience in financial services and has experience in Investment Management, Financial Planning, Insurance and Trust Administration.  Jason earned his Bachelor Degree from Wilmington College and is currently enrolled in The Stonier Graduate School of Banking.  He also holds the National Association of Security Dealers 7, 24, 63 and 66 licenses.

                  Johnna Reeder is president & CEO of REDI Cincinnati.   Previously she was the vice president of community relations and economic development for Duke Energy, Ohio and Kentucky. Prior to joining Duke Energy, Johnna led community relations, government affairs and foundation giving for Citi Corporation in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. Before relocating to Greater Cincinnati in 2000, Johnna directed a chamber of commerce and downtown development corporation in Tennessee. 

            REDI Cincinnati has received many accolades and awards under Reeder’s leadership, including 2017 Mac Conway Award for Excellence in Economic Development and Top Economic Development Organization in 2015, 2016 and 2017 by Site Selection magazine. Johnna was named one of North America's Top 50 economic developers by Consultant Connect in 2016.  She has received numerous recognitions throughout her career, including 2017 Venue Magazine C-Suite award, 2016 and 2017 Power 100 recipient from Cincy magazine, 2016 Legend by Northern Kentucky Legacy, 2013 Top 20 Women to Watch by Cincinnati Enquirer, 2011 Professional Achievement Award from Thomas More College, 2011 Woman Worthy of Note by the Kentucky Lane Report magazine, 2005 Cincinnati Business Couriers’ 40 Under 40 Award and 2003 YWCA Rising Star Award.

            Reeder’s current board affiliations include the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame, the Greater Cincinnati Foreign Trade Zone, the University of Cincinnati Research Institute (UCRI) and the Tri-County Economic Development Corporation (Northern Kentucky Tri-ED).

   Jill Wilson is the President and CEO of Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices.  Jill joined Otterbein in 1997, and has held various positions including chief financial officer, vice president of strategic planning and executive vice president leading up to her promotion to CEO in early 2009.   Prior to joining Otterbein, she spent her career as a CPA with ever increasing roles of responsibility with certified public accounting firms.

            Mrs. Wilson’s team has led significant growth through acquisition, de novo start-ups, and construction expansion at existing locations.  Otterbein’s nearly 2,000 employees serve approximately 4,400 persons annually in sixteen different locations throughout Ohio.  Annual revenue is on track to reach $132 million representing a 94% increase since Wilson was appointed CEO.  Otterbein holds an investment grade rating of A; one of only five multi-site, non-profit senior living systems in the nation with an A or better by Standard and Poor’s and Fitch.

            Wilson continues the track record of innovation.  Otterbein offers the largest retirement community in the Cincinnati-Dayton market.  It is the national leader in developing “Small House” neighborhoods, which offer a revolutionary, person-centered skilled nursing home model designed to look and feel like a real home. In recent years Otterbein added both home health and hospice organizations to the ministry. Otterbein recently established a for-profit development company to oversee the planned and careful long-term development of 1,440 acres in Turtle Creek Township to be known as Union Village.  The concept for Union Village envisions the creation of a vibrant mixed use, multi-generational town founded on the principles new-urbanism that will eventually be home to approximately 12,000 residents. 

            Mrs. Wilson is actively engaged with the community, serving on a number of professional and trade organizations.  Appointed by Governor John Kasich, she is the Chair of the Board of Executives of Long-Term Services & Supports, which develops and enforces standards for nursing home administrators. She currently serves on the Premier Health System Board and its finance and compensation committees, and the Atrium Medical Center Board. She is on the Board of Caring Communities Insurance Company, where she is Chair of the underwriting committee.   She is past Chair of LeadingAge Ohio, an association of 400 non-profit senior living providers and is past Treasurer of the United Methodist Association Board.   Wilson previously served on the Warren County Port Authority Board and is currently serving on the Warren County Area Progress Council.  Wilson was named to the 2016 list of Cincinnati Women of Influence by Venue Magazine.

            She has a bachelor's of business administration (accounting) degree from Georgia Southern University, and a master's degree in organizational development from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She resides in Maineville, Ohio with her husband, State Senator Steve Wilson and is an active member of the Otterbein Lebanon United Methodist Church.
